Description

Long live the Solar Empire!

I think the total time taken was around 12 hours... I put a lot of effort into this one. I'd really like a critique, I want to improve!

EDIT: Fixed stupid fill mistake and rotated slightly.

This is very good, I want to make that clear. It's very close to the original, and for the most part your technique is very good. All that can really be said is nitpicking, so I'll try to breeze through it the way Fluttershy insulted her dress in "Suited for Success".

- The tip of her tail is cut off at the end. If it were the border of the canvas, I could understand, but you have additional "fluff" below that, so I don't really understand what happened.

- Speaking of which, the tail/mane colors seem a bit faded. Going off of this screenshot [link] ,they look like they should be a bit richer, and less sparkly. Luna's the one with sparkles, because she has the stars in the night sky - as one (very smart) Deviant said (I wish I remembered who), they thought of the Princess' manes as "windows" into the sky. So, looking at Luna's mane, it's not actually hair, so much as a filter that lets you see through whatever's in front of you, to the stars behind, no matter where you are (if that makes sense). It's a bit of a harder comparison to make with Celestia (although you could make the argument that daylight is more "colorful"), and it's a more useful technique to use when painting than with vectoring, but it seemed relevant anyway.

- One last thing with the mane - I'm not sure about this overall, but in one or two screenshots I've seen, the border color isn't supposed to change. It stays blue throughout.

- The colors on her hoof greaves are a bit faded, as are the accents on her mantle and crown. They aren't supposed to be quite as rich as the borders, but still a bit more obvious.

- Finally, the position of her eye and mane makes the space between her eyes look a bit flat.

Again, I'm nitpicking - this is outstanding work. Be proud.
